CAKE SIZES AND SERVING
The cake portion guide shows the approximate number of portions that a single tier cake will provide.
Cakes are approximately 5”deep and the serving guide is based on cakes being cut into 1” x 1” finger portion size or 2” x 1”dessert portions.
Standard Terms and Conditions of Trading
These terms form the basis of the contract between our customer and Lucky & Co. These terms, your order and your order confirmation are considered by us to set out the whole agreement between you and us for the sale of cakes. It is your responsibility to check that all details in the order confirmation are complete and accurate as this is the document we work to when completing your order.
Basis of Sale
Quotations are valid for a period of 30 calendar days from the day of issue. Cake sizes quoted are in inches and are based on the diameter of the cake. Wedding cake tiers are around 5” deep as standard. If you would like a deeper cake this needs to be requested at the time of booking.
No contract is made with you until we have received your booking fee. Once your booking fee has been received you are in a legally binding contract with Lucky & Co.
Our cakes are made in an environment where nuts, egg, milk, gluten and other allergens are present. We cannot guarantee that any cake is entirely nut free although we make every effort to ensure that allergies are accommodated.
We cannot guarantee an exact replica of any cake but we will do our best to make it so. Where colour swatches are provided we will do our best to match as close as we deem possible. Exact colour matches are not guaranteed.
Fresh flowers are not included in the price of any wedding cake design. If a wedding cake is to be dressed with fresh flowers these are to be provided by your florist. NB. Please note some flowers are not suitable for use as a cake decoration. Ask your florist for details regarding toxicity. We cannot be liable for any contamination to our food product that may arise from their misuse.
Fresh flowers are included in the price of celebration cakes if required due to the design. Fresh flowers should be removed from the cake before consumption.
Stacked cakes contain dowels in each tier to provide support and these should be removed before consumption.
The cake is a fresh product containing no additives or preservatives and it is our right to assume consumption within 2 days. Cakes should be stored in a dry place, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat in the box provided. They do not need to be refrigerated.
Delivery and Collection
All orders may be collected free of charge from Lucky & Co by prior arrangement. We accept no responsibility for any damage sustained to the cake once it has left the premises.
If delivery has been requested, we will deliver the cake on the day set out in the order confirmation to the address provided. Lucky & Co will always do the best it can to ensure delivery times agreed are achieved for the provision of the goods or services however the Company cannot accept liability for delays.
When delivering to a wedding venue, we will contact the venue in advance to arrange a mutually convenient time for delivery. If we set up the wedding cake we shall take a photograph of the cake before leaving the venue confirming that the cake has been delivered in good condition. Should the venue need to set up the cake themselves we shall explain how the cake is to be displayed and where possible obtain a signature to verify we have done so. Once the cake has been delivered we are unable to accept and liability for any damage sustained to the cake thereafter nor any failure to follow the instructions provided.
If the cake is delivered with a stand, a security deposit of £50 will be payable with the final balance. The stand must be returned to us in a good, clean condition within 7 days of the wedding. Upon the return of the stand the deposit will be refunded.
Price and Payment
The price of your cake will be as set out in your order confirmation. No VAT is payable on the cakes. A £100 booking fee is required for wedding cake orders with the full balance due 6 weeks prior to the delivery date. All celebration cakes need to be paid for in full at least 2 weeks prior to delivery/collection.
Please note all booking fees are non refundable.
The balance must be paid no later than the date set out in the order confirmation by bank transfer to the account specified.
Cancellation, postponement and alterations
In the event of a cancellation by yourselves, charges are as follows;
More than ninety days prior to the date = booking fee only.
Ninety days to one calendar month prior to the date = booking fee plus half the remaining cost.
Less than one calendar month prior to the date = full amount
Any payments previously made are not refundable.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your order any monies paid will be refunded. Lucky & Co reserves the right to cancel, vary or suspend the operation of this contract if events occur which are in the nature of force majeure including (without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing): fire, floods, storm, plant breakdown, strike, lock outs, riot, hostilities, non-availability of materials or supplies or any other event outside the control of Lucky & Co. Lucky & Co shall not be liable for any breach of contract resulting from such an event.
Complaints are very rare and due to the amount of work put into each individual cake we take them very seriously.
Both parties agree to not post any negative information about the other arising out of this contract or event on any online forum or website without providing advance written notice of the intended content thereof, and providing the other party with a prior opportunity to resolve any issues between the parties amicably.
Complaints regarding the decoration of a celebration cake can be easily repaired so errors of this nature must be pointed out upon delivery/collection so as to give us the opportunity to correct them. Wedding cake clients will be sent detailed information regarding their wedding cake design prior to the wedding. It is the client’s responsibility to check that this meets with their requirements and raise any issues with us if there are any discrepancies.
Where the complaint is in regards to the quality of the cake then the cake, or remainder of the cake/tier, must be returned to us as soon as possible after cutting and within 48 hours of collection/delivery to ensure that we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint.
Please note we can only deal with the client who placed the original order.
Q: When do I need to book my cake?
We kindly request a minimum one months notice for wedding cakes and one week notice for birthdays and other celebrations dependent upon our availability. Full payment would be required at time of booking. To avoid disappointment we advise booking as soon as possible.
Q: How and when do I pay for my cake?
A £100 booking fee is required for wedding cakes payable at the time of booking. The remaining balance is payable 6 weeks prior to the wedding. For birthdays and other celebration cakes full payment is required 2 weeks before collection/delivery. Please note no booking is confirmed until a booking fee has been paid. All booking fees are non refundable.
Q: Do I have to choose one of the designs from your portfolio?
Not at all. All of our cakes are individually designed. You can certainly order a cake from the website but they are also there as inspiration. There is no extra charge for creating a design from your ideas.
Q: Can I incorporate fresh flowers in my design?
Certainly. We can provide flowers for celebration cakes but flowers for wedding cakes should be ordered from your florist and we will liaise with them. NB. Please note some flowers are not suitable for use as a cake decoration. Ask your florist for details regarding toxicity. We cannot be liable for any contamination to our food product that may arise from their misuse.
Q: Can I alter the design of my cake after booking?
Up to a certain point we may still be able to alter the design or design elements of your cake and we will be as accommodating as possible. If the alteration affects the overall cost then your balance will be adjusted and any additional costs must be paid.
Q: Can you deliver our cake?
Yes we can deliver. Please ask for a quotation at the time of booking. Cakes can be collected from our premises in Great Baddow. We supply cakes in boxes suitable for transportation. If the cake is collected by either client or courier Lucky & Co is not liable for any damage to the cake once it has left our premises.
Stand Hire – We can supply stands for our wedding cakes if required. There is a £10 hire charge and a security deposit of £50 is required. This will be refunded to you when the stand is returned to us in good clean condition. Stands must be returned within 7 days or the security deposit shall be forfeited.
Non –edible decoration The use of non edible materials to decorate cakes is becoming increasingly popular. Clients will be advised what decoration is non edible and it is their responsibility to inform the venue and guests. Lucky & Co accepts no responsibility for any physical harm that may arise from misuse.
Delivery – Delivery charges are calculated according to the distance. If you choose delivery we will liaise with venues to arrange a mutually convenient time. Please notify us of the time of the wedding or event at the time of booking. There is a small possibility that we will not be able to deliver your cake due to adverse or freak weather conditions such as snow or floods and that these conditions may make your venue inaccessible. We strongly recommend that you purchase wedding insurance to cover yourselves for this eventuality.
We reserve the right to use images of your cake for any form of advertising including web based promotions, brochures, galleries and competitions.
A non refundable booking fee of £5 per person is required to hold the date with the balance due 2 weeks prior to the event. A delivery charge is applicable – £15 for 5-10 miles radius of Great Baddow and a charge of £20 for a 10-15 mile radius. A separate £25 breakage/missing item fee is to be paid with the final balance and this will be refunded to the payee once the items have been checked.
